Re-birth Your Dormant Dreams Now!
53
What is a dream to you? Could a dream be something you were excited about when you were little but you probably hardly care about right now? Could dreaming be something you did when you were younger but which you ceased to do now because nothing good came out of it anyway?
When was the last time that you were excited about something? Last week? Last year? Have you been planning on some activity but you just couldn’t get around to doing it for the past months? If you answered yes to any of the preceding questions then you are “normal”. Hey, life is a struggle and not many of us are fortunate enough to live the life that we wanted. In fact, millions of people mill around lugging fetuses of unlived dreams and miscarried aspirations. The good news is that there’s a second chance waiting for you.
A strong desire for something is necessary if you want to live a life more vibrant and more fulfilled. A dream is something bigger than what you have right now. It is something better than your current circumstances. It is something not yet attainable under present available resources. A dream is somebody you would become who would be much better and more capable than who you are right now.
You must know in your
heart exactly what you want before you can find a way to get it. If you don’t
have a dream right now, it’s likely that at one time or another you had one.
You just gave it up or set it aside, and got swallowed up with life’s daily
grind. Millions of people live miserable lives, hating their jobs because they
feel trapped in careers that they never wanted in the first place. But they had
bills to pay and so they just go with the flow. They attempt to change their
predicament from time to time and when nothing happens they give up.

Why do people give up their dreams? There could be a variety of reasons as there are a variety of human beings. Below are 5 reasons why people let their dreams die.
- The dream never transitioned into concrete actionable goals.
- The dream was not properly cared for and protected.
- The person who had it simply gave up too soon in the face of adversities.
- The person eventually lost interest in the dream because he failed to adjust or revise his original dream to suit the changing circumstances.
- Procrastination
A dream is like a seed. Did you know that seeds are protected by a special coating that protects the germ of life inside? That is why a seed can lie buried for a long period of time without decaying. And when the rain comes and waters that seed it springs back to life from its long buried night! We don’t need to be poetic to drive home the point. You can re-birth your long-buried dream right now!
Recognize that it is God who planted the seed in your heart a long time ago and He has provided the means for that seed to survive and the capacity to live again when the time comes. Snap out of hopelessness and get your act together. Tie the loose ends of your life and pick up the pieces of your long lost dream. Dust and give them life back.
Let's take the case of Rod. Fresh out of high school, Rod was full of youthful idealism and big dreams. After college, he spent the next 15 years working in a bank. It was a stable job but it frustrated him. He felt like a square peg in a round hole. He had made the mistake of brushing aside his strengths and pursuing a business career where he thought the money was. For years, he trudged on enduring mediocrity. Deep inside, he was an artist, and he wanted to break out in areas where he felt strong and had lots of potential.
He went on a 2-week
vacation and started to write. He was amazed at how fine his articles turned
out to be. In school, he had always excelled in literature and writing. And he had
always wanted to write. Now his mind was clear and on-focus. He found his dream
back!
Presently he plans to write an inspirational book. In fact, he already has started it. He set goals to write everyday. He fills his free time writing and researching. He totally eliminated time wasters like watching T.V. He also dreams of becoming a motivational speaker. His new-found dream invigorates him and he can’t wait to get his hands on his word processor everyday!
How about you? It’s not too late to start again. Resurrect your dream. Write it down. Feed it. Protect it. Talk about it. But only to people who will cheer you up. Draw it. Clip it. Tack it to your wall. Focus and take action. Persevere. Revisit it. Revise if necessary. Have faith! Do it now!

The lovely fower on the right side of your hub that says "let your dream bloom in adversity" captures the spirit of your hub. Beautifully said!
Great hub!
I agree it's very important to hang on to your dreams. it's OK to understand that attaining them my be outside the possible, but to continue dreaming means to continue hoping, improving, searching, and all the things that give meaning to our lives.
Thanks for a great, thoughtful hub!
Sweet
Thank you Delzky. I really needed to hear this. May God bless everything you put your hands to.

There is a time and place for everything, and just because it is not the right time or the right place does not mean a thing should be abandoned forever. Well, said, and very inspirational.
